This work was created on August 13, 2011 in Boise, Idaho. The logistics of this action were planned carefully in order to allow for the shattering of family dishes while not harming walls, buildings or surrounding areas. I suppose this work was in part a four minute and eighteen second release valve for the grief I have experienced in losing my beloved mother in February 2011. We are a society focused on moving ahead and "getting over it" Grief in our society is cast aside. The shattering of the plates occurred in 95 degree F. heat on a relatively silent early evening. Hurling the plates at the wall was methodical, breaking a silence and marking emotional pain with a desire to move forward.
